Vikram Gokhale has a legacy in the Indian film industry that one will marvel at. He father , grandmother, great grandmother all have been significant contributors to the Indian film industry. Thanks to a natural selection of career, Vikram is today a veteran actor in Hindi, Marathi films and television. He is one of those faces of the television and films that the young viewers of today have grown up watching. The actor is also active on the Marathi as well as Hindi theatre.
Vikram started his acting career early in life and presently he completes more than 50 years in acting. In the film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, he played the role of Aishwarya’s father who is stubborn and full of principles. In the Priyadarshan directed film Bhool Bhulaiya, he essayed the role of the Acharya, who enters at a crucial time in the story. He played an important role of the Maharaja in the 2000 released Kamal Hasan film Hey Ram. The film that was a commercial flop in the Indian market was internationally acclaimed and was that year’s official entry to Oscar from India. In the movie, he worked with the doyens of Indian film industry like Kamal Hassan , Shahrukh Khan , Nasruddin Shah and Rani Mukherjee. In the 1990 released, Amitabh Bacchan starrer crime thriller, Agneepath, he played the role of Commissioner Gaitonde. The film is one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema. He played one of the lead roles in the 1990 released Amol Parekar directed film Thoda Sa Rommani Hojaye. The other two lead actors were Anita Kanwar and Nana Patekar. The film is a part of various courses especially in human behavioral sciences since it deals with the subject of self hypnosis. He played an important role in the 1989 Anil Kapoor’s magnum opus, Eshwar . He was also a part of the 1977 released film Yeh Hain Zindagi , for which Sanjeev Kapoor won many awards.
Presently Vikarm gokhle is stepping into direction and production and has directed a film titled Aaghaat which released in 2010. In the year 2014, he acted in Dusari Gosht, a Marathi film based on the soicio political scenario in the state of Maharashtra.
At the age of 74, the actor has smoldering dedication for his profession. He continues to act in films and serials as well as in theatre with the same enthusiasm that he had begun with.
