Modest beginnings have turned into many successful careers in Bollywood. Shreyas Talpade’s career tells a similar story. The young lad, who with great penchant for acting, started off with Marathi TV serials and theatres. A talent like his could not go unnoticed and not long after this, Shreyas got opportunity to act in Marathi and Hindi films. Nagesh Kukkunoor’s film Iqbal brought him to the notice of all and the character became synonymous with him.

Shreyas was a part of the popular Marathi TVserial Damini. The serial was his first major break after which he went on to do many stage dramas that established him as a professional actor. Shreyas’s keen learning and perseverance brought him many character roles and with the ease of a true performer he came out as an impressive young actor. He excelled in all shades of acting be it comedy or serious. Though a film like Iqbal gave him a role of high potential but later on Shreyas went on do many comic roles including the series of Golmal. With back to back comic roles, Shreyas’s image has now become that of a comic actor.

His simple looks and a boy next door charm deny him a star actor or a hero’s role but his capabilities are recognized to be that of a versatile actor. He is one of the few actors in the industry who is known for his exceptional acting skills not for any star power.

Starting from Iqbal, Shreyas has played vital characters in films like Dor , Om Shanti Om and  Golmal. His role of Pappu in the film Om Shanti Om is memorable for his excellent chemistry and comic timing with the veteran actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Shreyas has made the audience laugh in the Golmal series. Welcome to Sajjanpur is another film with a simple story that has impressed the audience. Shreyas, once again , emerged as an excellent actor with the film.

His Marathi films include Pachadlela and Savarkhed : Ek Gaav. Shreyas is popular among the Hindi and Marathi audience for his simplistic portrayal of characters and for his impactful performances like that of Iqbal , a deaf and dumb boy who struggles his way to the Indian cricket team. In the film, he shared screen space with the veteran actor Nazzuruddin Shah and the film also fetched him nominations and awards.
