Pooja Sawant is a dazzling beauty in Marathi films. Acting in films happened to her like an accident. The girl from a small city who grew up with the dream to become an acclaimed dancer is now working with eminent film makers in the industry.
Pooja won many hearts in the popular dance show for children, Boogi Woogie. The show, judged by Javed Javfri and team, was a huge hit among lids and elders alike brought her great fame and this paved the way to her entry in films.
Wiki – She started her career from the Hindi film Tum Milo Toh Sahi which was a multi starrer film. The film traced the journey of individuals belonging to different stages in life, to discover love and peace in life. Pooja played a small role in the film in which actors like Dimple Kapadia, Sunil shetty and Mohnish Behl were cast. In the same year came her film Kshanbhar Vishtranti. The film was about four couples and the actress was cast with Maulik Bhatt. The story of the movie revolved around four couples, friendship between them and their dream and goals as youngsters. Pooja as highly appreciated in the role and this gave her an apt platform to hone her acting skills.
Her second big film came in the year 2012 which was again a multi starrer. Satrangi Re was a film about friends and the intricacies of their relationships. How life changes when students step into professional world. Pooja played the role of Jenny , a vibrant bubbly girl following her penchant for music.
2011 saw in her a comedy named Ata Ga Baya. The film was appreciated for individual performances but the failed to make people laugh at the box office and was termed as a big disappointment. In the film , she played the leading role and was praised for her comic timings. In the same year she played a significant role in another comedy titled Zhakas. The film was a revised version of bluff master and Pooja played the role of Ashwini a modern girl with high goals and achievements. Again it was a multi starrer and she shared screen space with other actresses like Sai Tahmankar, Amruta Khanavilkar and actor director Ankush Chaudhary.
Apart from films, Pooja has been a part of many Marathi serials. Her serials include Ek Peksha Ek Jodicha Mamala and Jallosh Suvarnayugacha. Her first love remains dancer and her films have not overshadowed her fame as an energetic dancer.
