His debut film “Raja Harishchandra”, filmed in 1913, was India’s first silent feature film. Dadasaheb Phalke is the author of 95 full-length and 26 short films.
The highest cinematic award of India for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema was named in his honor.
Sadashiv Dattaray Amrapurkar
Sadashiv Dattaray Amrapurkar is an Indian actor and public figure. Best known for his roles in the film industry in Hindi and Marathi between 1983 and 1999. During his career spanning three decades, Amrapurkar starred in more than 300 films in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, and Hariani. He is a winner of 2 Filmfare Awards in various game categories. Today he is called one of the icons of Indian film industry and a man who in many ways influenced the boom in the popularity of Bollywood.
