Who does not know the contribution made by Lokmanya Tilak? Now, Marathi Cinema is to witness the release of Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush, this 15th August’ 2014 that can be regarded to be the perfect day for releasing such a movie of a man, who made independence possible.

This movie is directed by Om Raut and written by Kaustubh Savarkar and Om Raut, who have also done the screenplay. The movie stars Subhodh Bhave in the lead role. Neena Raut Films along with Emmay Entertainment has produced the movie. Recently, the team was seen promoting the movie at SC Mumbai Marathon last Sunday.

Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush movie has been regarded to be the talking point right from the time the very first teaser has been released. Actors such as Chimnay Mandlekar, Subodh Bhave, Priya Bapat along with others who are associated with the movie took to the social networking sites for declaring their presence in it.

It is rather a movie that was waiting to be created. After viewing bio-pics on Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Nikhil Advani, has produced a movie on Tilak. The script is said to have received validation from none other than Dr. Deepak Tilak, who is Lokmanya’s great grandson. Therefore, the director expects no public outbursts to take place against the movie.

According to inside sources, initially the director of the movie had postponed its release date for making space for the crime film ‘Rege’. However, later it was decided to release it on the same day as scheduled and to take head on the challenge with Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush.

It is a known fact that many Indian movies have got inspiration from Hollywood. The poster of Lokmanya had similarities with 2 Hollywood and a Bollywood movie poster. However, the director claims not have seen any of the posters and were inspired only by Mahatma Gandhi for the poster.
