Jitendra Joshi has made a mark in Marathi film industry with the varied shades of characters he has played. Be it comedy, serious or negative roles he has essayed all of them with a natural touch to them. He is one of those actors whom audience loves to watch on the screen for their unpretentious and effortless acting. He has been a part of many Marathi films in which he is praised for his impactful performances by critics while he has also gained the popularity of the audience. He became much popular with his police officer roles and also the ones in which he played the villain.

From being a small time actor he ventured into professional acting in the year 2003 with the Hindi film Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye. From thereon he has bagged films that are varied and distinct. He is an actor who has not restricted himself to any stereotypical roles. Not having the conventional good looks of a hero, he has played all the roles that he was offered. He is a side hero, minor and major villain and has made the audience laugh with his excellent comic timings in his comedies.
In his recent releases he played the role of Tukaram , the saint. The role proved to be a turning point in his career and brought him much appreciation. Another major break came when in the year 2013, his film Duniyadari was released and it tasted success. The star cast of the film included actors like Swapnil Joshi, Sai tamhankar, Ankush Choudhary among many other established actors. In this multi starrer film, Jitendra’s performance was noted to be excellent once again. Jitendra’s acting was highly impressive and brought him accolades from all the quarters.
In the year 2011 , released film Shala, he played the character of Narumama. The film which was an adaptation of a book of the same name, went on to become a huge critical success and received many awards and honors. Director Sujay Dahekar brought out a fine performance from the actor and made it a memorable work in his career. The director, later, was full of praise for the actor whom he said added impact to the role which demanded exactly the same from him.
In his portrayal of the 17th century saint Tukaram, he struck gold. He impressed everyone with his performance and praise was showered on him from critics.
